winter na!

It started to rain today.  Parts of Dubai and Jebel Ali (between the city and Abu Dhabi) experienced the first drops of this year’s winter.  Yep, you read it right, unlike in the northern hemisphere, here in the middle east winter means rain.

Unlike in the US or Canada or somewhere else where the mercury goes below 0C, here in the Dubai in particular we get to feel 10C or a bit less.  That’s so much welcome compared to the heat we endure in the summer where the thermometer will be at around 50C or more!   That was way hot!  Really.  Even the water that flows through your faucet early in the morning is too hot to handle!

When winter sets in in Dubai most people goes out for pleasant walks and jogs around the city.  Even us who have been here to work gets excited because we can roam around the city and go to landmarks where a month or two ago we’d never go because of the heat.

Yey, winter na! This is my second by the way.  And oh, I’d have to say na baka nga when Jesus was born fi December 25.  I don’t think the shepherds would be in the field in the middle of winter!
