I hope I got this right. I surely remember this as one of the last few activities before the culmination of the week long celebration of the city called Kadayawan.
An event to give thanks to our God for the harvest of the land and the sea for the past year.
I hope I can soon come home and be part of this wonderful event.

wow. im not aware of this festival. is this christian or pagan event? either way, looks very colorful
I believe it is a pagan event… It is one helluva of event.
Some call it festival of festivals in Mindanao.
Sounds like Thanksgiving to me. Now I know what to say if somebody asked me if Filipinos celebrated thanksgiving… the answer should be… yes, we have!
We called it…”Kadayawan” – giving thanks to God for the good harvest of the land (rice, fruits, maize, banana, duryan, coconut, e.t.c) and the sea (tuna, bolinao, isda sa bato, danggit, salay-salay, bangus e.t.c) , and the rivers/lakes, (haloan, pantat, gurami)
Lovely photos Monique…
